Now that I finished reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and being more expose to ideas of Happiness, Maturity, Responsibility, Integrity and related topics; I've come to some conclusions of my own that I'd like to share.
First of all, responsibility seems to be the core of almost everything well done, everything good that happens to us I would say. Responsibility is the key to unlock "happiness", because happiness doesn't seem to come from living a problem-free life, but from accepting and responsibly doing the things you have to do. As cliché as it sounds, there will always be obstacles, emergencies, bills to pay, dishes to wash (lots of them), car maintenance; and a long list that goes on forever, and as you cannot avoid them you just need to embrace it and do them.
Another realisation is the fact that oftentimes you need make sacrifices, not for the sake of suffering, but to make room for those activities that will free you from future pain, unexpected situations, making and endless TODO list. Working on those activities that are important right here, right now will enable you to enjoy those things you sacrifficed before because you've been making the path to "emergency-free" life. An emergency-free life is not a problem-free life, but is a life with less self-inflicted unnecessary pain.
As I've been digging a bit deeper into some psycology topics and psycologists like Jordan Peterson — with whom you might disagree — it seems to me that knowing that you've been doing the right thing, living by moral standards, principles, values; that's what brings happiness to human beings.
